5 DIY Birthday Party Games

You want your child’s birthday party to be fun. Cute decorations? No problem. Tasty treats? Got ’em. Instagrammable cake? Check. But even with all these major components in place, it seems like there’s something missing.

A party needs to consist of more than eating, blowing out candles, and opening gifts, right? If you want to take your kid’s party to the next level, you might consider offering some party games to amp up the fun factor. Check out these five DIY ideas for entertaining birthday party games.

Fill the Bucket Outdoor Water Game via The Resourceful Mama

We’ve include this game because it’s easy, affordable, and super fun. The game involves transferring water between buckets with sponges, which can be a little messy. However, it can also be a refreshing way to cool off on a hot day.

What’s in the Balloon? via KC Edventures

We’ve included this game because everyone loves a little mystery, and this DIY game packs plenty of it. To play, you fill balloons with different substances. Then, kids guess what is inside.

Ax Toss Game via Craft Meets World

This game makes the cut because it is just too adorable to resist. You craft a target and tiny “axes” that throw. No actual axes are involved. While this project requires more work than many DIY games, the results are just so cute.

Giant Pick-up Sticks via i Heart Nap Time

Giant Pick-up Sticks earned its spot on our list because even old-fashioned games become fresh again when you make them giant. To make the game, you simply paint bamboo yard stakes. To play the game, children attempt to remove one color of stick from a pile without moving the other sticks.

Marble Race via Crafting By Holiday

In Marble Race, kids shoot marbles down pool noodles to see whose marble can reach the finish line fastest. While the idea is simple and there is little explanation or instruction, we think this game is worth mentioning because a lot of kids really love racing things. Plus, the components are usually quite affordable.

Don’t forget: all party games should be supervised to make sure no one gets hurt.
