Hefty Picnic Tips, $1 Printable Coupon, and Giveaway!

I love picnics, but here in Texas the weather tends to go from cold to hot a bit too quickly.  There is very little “picnic-weather”, so our picnics tend to be of the indoor variety.

    Mmmm..picnics are my FAVORITE! The kiddos love them too! Our favorite picnic foods are watermelon, burgers (with mushrooms and cheddar mixed in) and lemonade!

    Grandma’s chicken salad recipe on some fresh bread, a bag of potato chips, and some homemade chocolate chip cookies – and strawberry lemonade!

    I love fruit, especially in the summer. So refreshing! I’d probably have to go with watermelon as the best picnic food.

    I don’t know about my favorite but some of them are cheeseburgers, fried chicken, or s’mores. I’m not big on the sides (ie: macaroni salad, potato salad, beans, etc) so I usually have a pretty boring looking plate at picnics or cookouts 😛

    Egg salad sandwiches with avocado. It used to be potato salad, but my family likes it so much I’ve made over 25 lbs this year and now I barely want to look at it.

    Chicken Salad Sandwiches – make sure to include chunks of apple in the chicken salad. It’s great when it’s cold and it can fill you up and keep you cool on a HOT day!

    Being a Texas Gal myself…..I like to BBQ some chicken, make my homemade potato salad, baked beans and pack a watermelon on ice for our favorite picnic food.

    Dessert is always my favorite – cookies, brownies, anything sweet! Hot dogs on the grill are the best too.

    My favorite is frozen grapes. My mom would always freeze the grapes the night before a picnic. They doubled as an ice pack and a delicious snack. Almost like little round popsicles.

    Sparkling lemonade–I know it’s a beverage, but it counts, right?!? I use frozen lemonade concentrate, but use lemon lime soda instead of 1/3 of the water, plus add an extra can of sprite.
    If I HAVE to list a food….BLT Pasta Salad.

    We like pretty much everything in my family, but I think the little snack foods and the sub sandwiches are the best! We toast our sandwiches like we’re something special and they are delish! 🙂

    My favorite picnic food is this cream cheese Rotel dip my husband makes – mix 1 can Rotel with 2 blocks cream cheese and serve with fritos!
