Coleman Camping Gear Review & $25 Gift Card Giveaway!

Okay, I’m going to be honest here – I am not the outdoorsy type.  My husband, however, loves the outdoors.  Camping, hiking, fishing, anything and everything outdoors is going to make him happy.  When Coleman contacted me about reviewing some of their camping products I was not very interested.  But when I told my husband about it, he practically begged me to accept!

Coleman was very generous and sent us some amazing products.  When everything arrived, my husband was so excited (and he does not show excitement often!).  We could not wait to try everything out!

Last week was my husband’s vacation and we opted for a “staycation” this year.  Since we were going to be home, it was the perfect opportunity to try out the Coleman gear in our own backyard!

We have taken the kids camping before, but they were still very excited about camping in the backyard.  Of course, no camping experience would be complete without s’mores!  It was a total blast spending the time together as a family at home!

Since, I would probably use terms like “the stuff was neat-o” or “that thingy with the dealymabob,” I’ve decided to let my husband review a few of his favorite Coleman products:

“Extra High QuickBed Queen Air Bed 120V Built-in Pump – It was very nice and thick so that even if some of the air leaks out during the night, you don’t end up flat on the ground.  It is also very convenient to have the pump built into the bed and that it can inflate and deflate with just the flip of a switch.  I also like that it uses a standard plug so that you can use it in a regular outlet or in a car charger with a converter.

Quad Lantern – This was probably the coolest product.  The lantern is actually 4 mini lanterns in 1.  This way, if someone needs to go off the the bathroom, they could just pull off a mini lantern and leave the central unit behind with the camp.  It was also fun for the kids to carry around their own little lanterns.  To recharge each mini lantern you just reattach it back into the main unit.

75 Qt Wheeled Xtreme 5 Cooler – It’s really big and the cup holders on top are convenient, though I wish that the lid could be lifted without having to remove the drinks from the holders.  It is the only cooler I’ve ever had that had a drainage port in the back – makes it so much easier to drain out the melted ice!  The telescoping handle really set it apart from other coolers because I could fully extend the handle and comfortably pull it, or halfway extend the handle so that someone shorter could pull it easily.”

    Have to add that waking up on the ground with a deflated mattress makes for VERY crabby campers. A mattress that doesn’t leak out the air in the night would be more than wonderful. Also, like the thought of a built in air pump and the ability to charge on a standard plug is perfect! Coleman really thought this one out. It’s like they went camping next door to us at the state park!

    We have done both girl and boy scout camping and the Queen inflatable mattress sounds wonderful! The quad lantern also looks like an exceptional product. May put both on the Christmas list!

    I’d love to get the Extra High QuickBed Queen Air Bed 120V Built-in Pump! Last time we went camping I didn’t sleep a wink on my sleepingbag (might of also had something to do with our baby crying most of the night!)

    I would love to try the Coleman 75-qt. Xtreme 5 Cooler. When I go camping with my current cooler, the ice is melted in no time. I can’t depend on keeping things cold without runs to the closest convenience store.

    Love the lantern. Just went camping for the first time with Kids. they had a blast. The criteria for having such a good time was centered around eating s’mores and hot chocolate.

    I would love to try the quad mini lantern. We live in an area with lots of trees and bushes. We don’t have too much lighting outside of the house for energy-saving purposes so when it’s night it’s difficult to see where we’re walking. We just go by memorization because we know the layout of our front and back yards. The lanterns would greatly help us out!

    I would love to try the queen air bed. I haven’t been able to go camping in years because of a back injury and then trying to get back up when you’re in pain is a struggle. Maybe an air bed would allow me to go camping again . Life after 50 is much more complicated .

    I would love to try out the Coleman light. I do camp every summer and lighting is always a challenge in the tent. The lights that I’ve tried always are too dim and this Colman has four angles which will light up the whole area. It would also be nifty to have the four break-away lights to go outside at night.

    I would love to try the 75qt cooler with the extended handle. I have 6 kids and always at baseball/softball tournaments. I need a cooler this big to handle all the drinks/food needed to accommodate my family. The wheels/handle would be so wonderful!

    Last weekend we bought two pieces of Coleman gear and used them and now we’re ready for more.

    The Coleman Dutch Oven and Instastart Threeburner stove helped us get second in a Chili Cookoff!

    Coleman has always been and is still a great product and leader in the industry.

    I can’t wait to try to quad lantern. It will save us having to have so many flashlights when we go camping. But, I also love the idea of having the pump in the bed so that you don’t have to worry about losing it. Great stuff from Coleman!

    The cooler would be awesome. We have 2 really crappy coolers, one has the plug made of putty! We sold our camper this summer as part of our journey on the Dave Ramsey plan, so we don’t camp much anymore, but we love it. And we do tailgate still! Go Colts!

    I’d try the airbed. I’ve seen the other two products. The lantern in nice. I thought the handle on the cooler seemed light for when the cooler is full of ice, meat, and soda. Seen the single high Coleman airbeds but never tried an Extra-high bed.

    Being a camper, I think I would enjoy the Coleman Lantern the most. It is so dark outside when the moon is hidden by clouds and a I would love to win this gift certificate so that I could purchase one to leave at the camper. I own Coleman products and don’t have comfort in any other company when it comes to my camping needs.

    The quad lantern would be great! Living in Atlanta our lights go out all the time. The last time our lights went out the kids were home alone and could not find any flash lights (because they didn’t put them back where they belonged in the first place). But I would like to have this to place in my closet where I store my stockpile and it doesn’t have a light in there. So any time we are in there we can use the lantern.
