  1. This was def. a YMMV situation. I only found two Walgreens that stocked the calcium supplements. The first one, the manager rejected the coupon and explained that the terms of the store coupon was that “cannot be combined with other offers” and that the RR was another offer. The second one that had the product in stock, accepted the coupon and did a price override.

BTW – inside the box is a manufacturer’s coupon for $1/1 of the calcium supplements, so you can turn it into a $6 money maker by stacking the coupons if you find a store that will accept the coupon, or a $1 moneymaker if they will only accept the manufacturer’s coupon.

  2. My Walgreen’s is very good about applying coupons, but the register beeped when they scanned the Applied Nutrition coupon. That was the end of “seeing if it would work” and they wouldn’t do any kind of adjustment to apply the coupon. In my opinion, it should have been applied regardless of any other kind of promotion with RR’s since it was in the coupon book and there were no exclusions on the coupon.

  3. We tried to see if we could combine the $5 off applied nutrition supplements with the applied nutrition triple calcium supplement ($10-$10RR=free) but the cashier lady told us it has to be the ones on the picture. We talked to the manager and he said that they couldn’t do that because we are already getting it free practically because of the registery rewards. At the register, they took it off my order. We could argue with them about it but we didn’t want to inconvenience the manager with a talk to his district manager over the phone. The manager is also a nice guy and he is starting to get to know us as good customers so we left without a disbute over the supplements. So, we’re okay about it.

  4. There’s a couple of Oxi-Clean printable coupons that you can combine with the sale for massive damage.

    (1) Oxi-clean pretreater, $2.99
    (1) MaxForce packs, $2.99
    -(1) $3 off 1 pretreater & 1 other product
    = $1.50 each

Also, does anyone know how I can get another region’s newspaper/coupons? I’m sick of not getting all of my coupons, or getting lower value coupons, and I can’t drive 3 hours to Chicago every week to buy a newspaper.

    • @Nick, Have you tried subscribing to the paper. I used to have a paper route (when dinosaurs walked the earth) but I had to mail a paper to a person in another state. You might not get it for an extra day or two but it could still be worth it.

  6. @ Jennifer, I found the coupon towards the back of the book, 4 pages from the back. At the top of the page there is a $10q for Coromega. The applied nutrition q is on the bottom. hth

    • @Alicia, that explains why it was hard to find, the photos don’t match the item in the paper, although it does say Applied Nutrition Supplements, I see it now. Thanks for the help! When I bought mine, I didn’t see this, and I had scanned the book before buying, ahh well. With my luck it probably wouldn’t of been allowed lol.

  7. I went to the Walgreens in Carrollton, TX on Keller Springs Rd and Josey Rd and they would not let me purchase the Icey Hot, Aquafresh Kids Toothpaste, or the Ecotrin because the coupons that were listed were for a higher value than the sale price (even by 1 cent). Is this the case at all Walgreens or is it just mine?

    Reply

    • @Amber, They have to do a price adjustment to make the coupon 99 cents and if you show them their policy that states that they will adjust the coupon when needed to the price then they will do it.

    • Amber,
I shop at that store, too. Print your Walgreens policy and take it with you. Some cashiers don’t know that they can adjust down the value of the coupon…and that they are supposed to. That store does have quite a few cashiers who say, “we can’t use it” if a coupon beeps. But the manager is fairly decent about knowing the coupon policy…especially if you have it with you. It also helps if you hand the manufacturer coupon first and then the Walgreens coupon, like on the Aquafresh kids.

    • @Amber,

Here in Coppell, there’s an old battle-axe of a cashier that tries the same thing with me every time I use a coupon for more than the sale price. Every time she does it, I have to get a manager because she refuses to listen to Walgreens’ own corporate coupon policy. And every time I get a manager, the manager tells me I’m right and she’s wrong. You’d think she’d learn by now, but no.

    • @Amber, Thanks ladies! I ended up calling corporate because it was a manager at the store that told me no (and then ran off without discussing it further). To be fair, I think the customer before me had made him upset but I still deserved to get the items with my coupons. I have printed off the policy for the future so this doesn’t happen again. Being so firm with cashiers is not something I am used to yet but I am learning. Thanks again for the clarification 🙂

  8. @Munroe: The Smart Source, Red Plum, P&G (Proctor & Gamble) are all coupon inserts found in the Sunday paper. They are usually near the middle of the paper and are almost like a little magazine tucked into the paper. They’re glossy. If you bought a paper this weekend and can’t find them, it’s because they usually don’t do coupon inserts on holiday weekends (like Memorial Day). The front page of the insert will be clearly titled “Smart Source” etc. Hope this helps!

  9. I guess I am blind, because I can not find the $5.oo off coupon at all!! Can someone please tell me what page it is on in the coupon book for June? I am in AZ, maybe our book is different?

  10. hey i been struggling with this. i found this website and was reading. i get the sunday paper but dont know what the red plum and smart sources are. how do i identify them in the the paper, or what section.

    Reply

    • Red Plum and Smart Source are the “titles” for the coupon inserts. The very first page in one of the corners on the top of the page, the title is there. Hope that helps.

      • @Shiela, FYI, there were no inserts this past Sunday because of Memorial Day holiday! You’ll see some next Sunday though and they’re usually the paper falling from the rest of the Sunday paper.

  11. Went to a N. CA Walgreens as we were passing through today (Redding) and they had plain Ritz crackers, Wheat Thins and Triscuits as substitutes for the Crackerfuls. I picked up one package of Ritz and the RR printed no problem.

They were out of the Right Guard body wash and kids Aquafresh.

  12. I went to Walgreens today, and found out that the $2 RR deal for Ritz Crackerfuls also worked for other Nabisco crackers such as Triscuit and Wheat Thins.

  13. the coupon beeped for Applied Nutrition supplement and the manager said it can not be applied because I am getting $10 RR back. Is there a policy that I can show him that coupons can be used even if we are getting the RRs back for the same amount as the item? or is it not allowed officially?
    need some help.
    thanks.

  14. I went to 3 different stores. The 2 here in town refused the coupon. The only one that took it was in a neighboring town. (Had other things to do there or I wouldn’t have made the drive) My local stores aren’t giving substitutions for the Crackerfuls either. 🙁

  15. Similar situation here, except they used the “the coupon only works for what’s in the picture” line with me. I didn’t feel like arguing with them so I had them remove it from the transaction. I’ve put in a call to corporate customer service and should be hearing from a district manager this week.

  16. My Walgreens wouldn’t let me use the $5 coupon on the Applied Nutrition Triple Calcium. The coupon says “Applied Nutrition Supplements” and our Walgreens said the calcium pills aren’t supplements. We showed them on the bottom of the box it says “dietary supplement” but they wouldn’t budge. Oh well, still happy with the rr’s.

    Reply

    • @Lena, My Walgreens took it. There was the dreaded beep but the manager looked at the coupon and overrode it. The coupon did not specify particular products. So I paid $5 OOP on the $10 item and got $10 RR.
