Macy’s 101 – How to Shop and Save Money at Macy’s
Macy’s is a staple on my list of department stores. Although I do buy many things on Amazon, I like to keep my options open and things seem to ALWAYS be on sale at Macy’s.
Read on to learn all about the Macy’s Star Rewards Program, Macy’s Money, price matching policies, free shipping and perks of registering at Macy’s!
Macy’s Star Rewards Program
This is part of Macy’s credit card program BUT if you register as a non-credit card holder, you still get many of the perks that a card holder gets. You’ll just be enrolled as Bronze level (rather than Silver). And make sure you link this to your Macy’s Wallet to keep all your promos and info together.
These are some of the perks:
Star Money Days: Make sure to shop on these days! You get 1 point for every dollar spent, where 1000 points = $10 Star Money. This money can be used within 30 days! Check this out or the next Star Money Day event and its details!
Perks and Offers: All Star Rewards Members can enjoy extra savings offers at checkout, event invitations and more.
Birthday Surprise: All Star Rewards Members will be sent a special surprise for their birthday!
Macy’s Money
Macy’s Money is a rewards card that you can receive by making qualifying purchases online. For example, right now if you spend more than +$25 and click “No Hurry Shipping”, you’ll receive Macy’s Money in your Wallet . You can use your Macy’s Money in addition to coupons & sale prices including fragrances and cosmetics.
Price Matching Policies
While the online pricing policy states that the prices may not match between the website and the store, I confirmed with their customer service team on the phone that they will indeed match their online prices depending on the specific store’s policies. So if I were to go to the store, see a pillow for $19.99 and check the Macy’s App and see that online it’s $15.99, I can take that information to the store clerk and have them make the price adjustment. They also price match the following stores: Belk, Bloomingdales, Bon Ton, Dillards, Kohl’s, JCPenney, Lord and Taylor, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Sears. They exclude Amazon, Costco and Ebay.
Free Shipping
Definitely take advantage of Free Shipping online and in store! Right now, they’re offering free shipping on anything more than $75. And if you’re buying beauty products, you get free shipping on anything more than $49. In addition to free shipping, Macy’s now offers some benefits to buying online but picking up in store. If you choose “Free Pickup in Store” when checking out online, you’ll get an extra 20% or 15% off your next in-store purchase, which can be a great deal!
The Registry
There are SO many perks to creating a Macy’s Registry. I would highly recommend opening a Macy’s Credit Card if you’re registering with Macy’s. When we got married, we were able to use the money we earned here plus Macy’s gift cards to purchase our awesome couch! You get 10% back in Reward Dollars on every eligible purchase you make and 5% back in Reward Dollars on every eligible gift someone purchases from your registry. All that money goes on a gift card, which you can then spend on new items in store that weren’t there when you registered OR a bigger purchase item that you didn’t want to put on your list because it was a bit more. And then the savings continues for six months after you tie the knot. Macy’s will load a promo to your Macy’s Wallet for an EXTRA 20% OFF on most remaining items on your registry plus an EXTRA 10% OFF the big stuff (furniture, mattresses & rugs).
