Are you a fan of Ibotta? If so, you’ll also love the new Checkout 51 app! Checkout 51 is a smartphone app that rewards you with cash back on your grocery purchases!
Checkout 51 is Canada’s #1 grocery savings app and it is now finally available in the US!
If you have a smartphone, head over to Checkout 51 and sign up to get started! If you DON’T have a smartphone, that’s okay – you can still use the app on your computer!
Once you’ve created your account, it’s easy to start earning money on your purchases.
Browse the offers to see what is available. They add new offers every Thursday which are valid through Wednesday. Currently there is an offer for 50¢ cash back on a dozen eggs (any brand!) and new users can earn $2 cash back if the first receipt uploaded is for $20 or more. That’s a pretty easy way to earn $2.50 in cash!
After you’ve browsed the offers, go shopping! With Checkout 51, you can make your purchases at ANY store! Just make sure you buy the exact size/flavor/variety of the product for the offer. Keep in mind that the offers have a limit of one, so if you buy two items that qualify, you’ll only get credit for one.
When you’re done shopping, use your Checkout 51 app to upload a picture of your receipt. Just choose “upload receipt”, line up the edges of your receipt in the frame, and make sure to fit the entire receipt in the picture. If your receipt is really long then you have the option to take snapshots of the receipt in sections.
You must submit the receipt while the offer is valid and the receipt must be dated during the time frame that the offer is active (so, you can’t take an old receipt from last week and try to get credit for the offers available this week).
Once you’ve earned $20 with Checkout 51, you can cash out and they’ll mail you a check!
Best of all, you can “double dip” with Ibotta. Meaning, you can submit your receipt to Checkout 51 AND Ibotta if they both have the same offer at the same time and earn cash back from both apps!
Get started with the Checkout 51 app for Apple or Android or create an account online.

Can these apps be used along with e coupons or paper coupons?
Hi Rebecca! Yes - it can! That's the beauty of it!
Do you need to give out your home address?
Yes, the Terms of Service states:
"To Receive Payment You Must Maintain a Current Address in your Registration Data"
I don't think so. I signed up recently, and I don't remember having to give my home address. It's all electronic.
Stephanie, am I right to think this is better than Ibotta, if I don't want the added step of answering a question or posting to FB to get an offer?
Thanks
I think using both together is the way to go. Each app has different offers that can help you save money, and some offers overlap for awesome savings!
I just put it on my iPad 2 days ago.
