I thought I would share a few things:
When the Hersey Bliss went on sale last week I finally had to get a rain check because they sold out first thing after midnight on Saturday night / Sunday morning. The $1 off coupon that would have made it a $1 money maker expired by the time they were back in stock this week :-(. When I went to the register the cashier didn’t know how to refund the ECBs associated with the rain check. She ended up ringing the Hershey Bliss for 1 cent and then giving it to me for free (essentially redeeming my ECBs right then). I wonder if this how they normally take care of “issuing” ECBs associated with rain checks?
Also, this week I was looking forward to buying the Wisk at BOGO free with $2 MFG coupons, but they sold out Saturday night / Sunday morning. The Wisk is back in stock, but the price for the HE Wisk was $2 more than the regular Wisk. This was a surprise to me. I had made my calculations based on the regular Wisk price for 32 load bottles at $2.25 each after MFG coupon. With an additional $2 specifically for the HE I decided to skip this deal for now. But, I got an email today from CVS for $5 off a $25 purchase. I think I might go back for the rain check on the Wisk, and use the CVS coupon stacked with my MF coupons once the HE is back in stock to be able to get the price down in my price range.
On a really good note, my spring spending ECB printed out at the kiosk today.
Thanks to everyone who participates in the comments and replies. I am glad to read them and learn more from others.
Stephanie
@Denny, Oh I hate when the stores get items back in stock just as the coupon expires! Don’t worry though, there are always more deals to come! 🙂
Rae
I was not going to get the Pantene (I won’t pay for shampoo) but the scanner spit out a “$2/1 Pantene product” coupon!! This made the 2 bottles free 😀
Stephanie
@Rae, Nice!!
Tiffany
i was just at cvs and the schick razor deal doesnt work out to what it should. i ended up spending not the amount i had worked out.
Jen
If the Gatorade/Lifewater is B1G1, is it only the price for one that counts towards the $30 to get the $10 free gas?
Stephanie
@Jen, I *think* only the price of 1 will count.

Had to share this morning’s visit:
2 Schick Hydro razors (10.99 at my CVS), B1G1
-had a $4 off 1 coupon
2 Pantene Conditioner, on sale 2 for 6.98, $2 ECB back
-had a $1 off 2 coupon (used the $3 off 2 last week, stocking up!)
1 Colgate Total toothpaste, $2.87, $1 ECB back
-had a $1/1 colgate coupon
Total was $20.84. After coupons was $14.84. Had prior ECBs for $14.50. Ended up paying $0.34.
I LOVE COUPONING101.COM!
Stephanie
@JP, Awesome!!
Amanda
I had 5 coupons for the $1/2 nabisco cookies it was a great deal paying 0.49 each. I bought a bunch to stock up since schools out it seems like there is never enough snacks/food in the house. Thanks for the tips
Curtis
@ Stef,
You forgot the last part of the math equation, divide by 2. :o)
Stef
I’m confused on the math for the Pantene deal… How could you get them for $.99 each?
Pantene – $3.49 each x 2 = $6.99 – $2ECB = $4.99 – $3(coupon) = $1.99
Rae
@Stef, The $1.99 in your math is for both bottles so they are about a dollar each bottle 🙂
d
I just started a week ago. Last week they had a pantene deal. This week there is another. Can I earn ECB each week on Pantene? Or is it limited to 1? What I need to know is: How long does each ECB run on a certain item? Hope I don’t confuse you. 🙂
Stephanie
@d, Each time it appears in the ad, the ECB count resets. So, if a deal appears in the ad every week, you can get another one every week. The only exception is monthly deals – those run all month long and you can only get them once (but they will only appear in the ad once during the month). So you just have to be careful about getting unadvertised monthly deals because you may see it in the ad mid-month and forget that you bought it earlier in the month before it was advertised, then you won’t get an ECB. I hope that wasn’t too confusing!
Brandon
Here’s my plan if anyone’s willing to check my math:
Transaction #1:
(5) Honest Tea $1 ea.
– (5) $1/1 Honest Tea Printable Coupon (RecycleBank)
= Free+2ECB
Transaction #2:
Tums $3.99
+ Oreos $0.99
– $1/1 Tums Product Printable Coupon
– $2/1 Tums CVS Q (came up for me last week)
– 2ECB from 1st Transaction
= -$0.02(FREE)+1ECB
So if all works out, I walk away with 5 teas, Oreos, the Tums plus 1 ECB with out spending a cent out of pocket. Is there any chance that something will get thrown off when I try and use $5 of Qs and ECB on the 2nd transaction which is only $4.98 of merchandise?
Curtis
@Brandon,
You will have no problem using the 5 tea coupons, as long as you are able to print them all. Remember, no photocopies! Using $2ECB for $1.98 total will not be a problem. CVS will adjust the ECB to $1.98. Remember your purchase won’t be completely free, you are still responsible for sales tax. Happy CVSing!

couponista1990
@Curtis,
If you use the ECB first on the 2nd transaction and THEN the MQ coupons, the ECB will not have to be adjusted. The MQ coupons will be applied toward you sales tax. So you would probably get $.02 TOWARD your sales tax but you’ll still have to pay the rest of it.
Curtis
@couponista1990,
Thanks for the tip couponista. I’ll have to give it a try some time!
-Curtis-
Brandon
@Curtis,
Thanks for the info. It went off without a hitch. Philadelphia doesn’t seem to tax the products I was buying so everything did end up completely free.
For anyone interest in the minutiae, on the second transaction instead of adjusting the ECB down to $1.98 the register added a dummy “Non-Taxable Item” item for $0.02 inorder to make the transaction add up to $0.00.
Noemi
I am getting frustrated. I love your site and always look forward to getting the deals. However, its been 2 weeks in a row now, and I am not getting the coupons you are getting. I had no Dove coupons in my RP this week. I went as far as getting the neighbor’s coupons and checking the newspaper at Walgreens, lol. It is really starting to irritate me.
Janell
@Noemi, I live in Southern Arizona and subscribe to a paper in Northern Arizona just so I get more inserts and the coupons are better too. Maybe try checking other papers in your state??
Amanda
@Noemi, i understand what you mean my parents livee in the next city (litterally 5 mins away) and they will sometimes get diffrent coupons from the same paper!
John
Love that Fuze/SmartWater deal. For the last three weeks we’ve been getting them for pennies on the dollar with BOGO Qs on the Fuze, and .75/1 Qs on the SmartWater I found at local gas stations.
Stephanie
@John, I love gas station coupons! I always find nice high value beverage coupons there!
raven
i never cared for cvs until now…i look forward to sundays and sales! This morning, I bought 5 dove men’s deodorants, 1 pantene shampoo, 1 pantene conditioner and 2 dove men’s bodywash, along w/ 4 boxes of nabisco cookies for only 9 dollars! so excited!
Stephanie
@raven, That’s great!!
Dedra
I got up early Sunday morning and got my Pantene. Great value!
teresa
The CVS in Maryville, TN refused my coupons for the Pantene deal. I had the coupons listed above and she tod me I could only use one. They had no hydro razors and a few Pantenes, but I didn’t buy them.
Curtis
@teresa,
That is correct. You can only use one of the Pantene coupons for this deal. You can only apply one manufacture’s coupon to a product. If the coupon says $3/2 then the coupon applies to both products. In the list above it says your can use one OR the other, not both.
-Curtis-
Michelle
Will someone please explain the scenario on the hydro razors? You can use two coupons on bogo? O i have not tried that before and would love to get this deal. Thank you!
Rebecca
@Michelle,
I just used 2 coupons for a BOGO at CVS.
Dana
@Michelle, As long as your number of coupons doesn’t exceed the number of items you can use 2 coupons as long as you have two items (even if they are BOGO free). I think stores like Target have changed their policy, but I got two more hydro razors last night from CVS and it was no problem.
Curtis
@Dana,
Unless I read your comment incorrectly, I think you may be mixing up CVS and Walgreen’s coupon policies.
At CVS you can use as many coupons as you want, as long as you do not break the rules. You can apply 1 CVS coupon and 1 manufacture’s coupon per item. You can use as many ECBs as you want to pay for it.
At Walgreens you cannot use more coupons than items and RR count as coupons. So if you want to buy 1 item and you have 1 Walgreens coupon, 1 manufacture’s coupon, 1 RR, then you need to buy 2 filler items to make your total items equal your total coupons.
I hope this clears up some confusion.
-Curtis-
Dana
@Curtis,
Sorry, my comment was poorly worded. I’ve been shopping @ CVS for about a month now, sometimes 2 or more times a week. I was trying to say that if you have three items…lets say three Dial bodywashes, you can only use 3 manufacturer coupons for this item (this does not include ECB’s). Hopefully thats worded better. 🙂 In regards to Walgreens, I’ve only shopped there a handful of times, I’m not too fond of how their RR work. But CVS on the other hand…I’m in LOVE with them!!! I’m actually known there by a few employees as the “bargain/coupon lady”. LOL.
Curtis
@Michelle,
Here’s how the Hydro Razor deal goes. CVS has the item on sale B1G1. You can use one manufacture’s coupon per item (unless the coupon is $/2). You are paying 8.99 for two razors because of the CVS sale, so you can use two $/1 coupons for the two items.
Since the items is on sale B1G1, you can use 2 coupons. If you had a manufactures coupon B1G1, then it would be different. I hope this helps explain it. Happy CVSing.

$4.50/1 Schick Intuition Refill is for 6ct packages. Does not apply to $3.00 ECB for CVS – as far as I can tell.
Please someone correct me if I’m wrong. 🙂
