CVS: Saved 83% on Kashi, Tom’s of Maine, Honest Tea, and More!

I’m pretty excited about the CVS deals this week! There were several things I really wanted and I was surprised when my CVS had everything on my list in stock except for the toothbrushes!

Total Spent: $8.58
Total Saved: $42.39 (83%)

I had no ECBs to start with so I did several transactions. It’s too much to list out, plus I didn’t plan very well, so it’s probably not the best plan to follow anyway. I also ended with zero ECBs since I needed to buy newspapers.

Everything I bought is listed in the CVS coupon matchups except the Lipton Tea (used a free coupon – no longer available), the Hershey bars (used free coupons – no longer available), and the newspapers.

You can see the full list of CVS Deals HERE.

Did you go to CVS this week? How did you do?

  • I mistyped my own name and web site in an earlier comment tonight! I got $53.80 worth of product for 25 CENTS plus tax! This is only my third attempt to save at CVS and it was my best yet. I'm so excited that I just have to share how it went down. I started with $16.99 in ECBs and a $4 off $20 store coupon.

    Transaction #1

    $6.97/2 Pantene shampoo and conditioner
    - $3/2 (6/19 SS)
    + 2 ECBs
    $3.49 Tom's of Maine deodorant
    - $1/1 (6/19 SS)
    +1 ECB
    $2.99 Irish Spring deodorant
    - $1/1 (coupon that came in a weekly mailer in Southern California)
    +2 ECB
    $5.58/2 Colgate Total Advanced
    - $1/1 (coupon that came in a weekly mailer in Southern California)
    - $1/1 (coupon that came in a weekly mailer in Southern California)
    +4 ECB
    $5.99 Hershey's Bliss
    +5.99 ECB

    - $4/$20 CVS coupon
    - $14.99 ECBs

    Total: $0.03 + $1.34 sales tax = $1.37 (plus $14.99 in new ECBs for a total of $17.99 ECBs)

    Transaction #2
$11.99 Alaway eye drops (on sale for month of June)
    - $4/1 (printable coupon)
    - $4/1 (CVS in-store coupon)
    $5.98/2 Hawaiian Tropic lip balms
    +10 ECBs

    - 9 ECBs
    - 30%/entire order (coupon printed with receipt from first order)

    Total: $0.22 + $1.39 sales tax = $1.61 (+10 ECBs for a total of $18.99 to use next time)

I realized I forgot to pick up the Power Bar deal so I'll have to make a second trip! I lucked out this week because I had a lot of good CVS coupons to use up, but I will give this tip: doing at least two transactions is a great idea because a big enough first transaction will often result in an extra coupon for your next order (that's usually only good for three days anyway, so you may as well use it right away) being added to your receipt. I saved a little extra using the 30% off coupon I got! Hooray!

  • Retail value of 3 transactions = 74.96
    I paid a total of $21.63
It took 3 hours of planning and cutting while watching a movie with my son last night. Not a bad return on investment (ROI).

    • I went to CVS tonight, they have buy 2 get 1 free Met-Rx Protein Bars, I had two BOGO free coupons which means I got 6 protein bars for 86 cents a piece (regular price $2.57 each) :)))))

  • Thank you!! I can't really get to the store at slow times because it conflicts with my baby's schedule, but I will try what Chelsea suggested about requesting an additional cashier if they think that will be better not to inconvenience other customers. Or I will do my 2 store strategy :P I think I will need 4 transactions for what I want to get this week, so 2 at each CVS will be perfect. Luckily I have 4 that are close by, 2 that are really easy to get to. I've tried all possible combinations and I think I will have to pay $35 OOP for everything I want to get, but it should be really good value :) Thanks again!!

  • How many transactions do you guys do on one shopping trip? I have been planning my CVS trip this morning but I am too embarrased to do more than 2 transactions per trip, so I was thinking of going to a different CVS to do 2 more :P What do your cashiers say/do? Most of them are really unhappy when I request 2 transactions and have tons of coupons they have to deal with :/

    • @Sofi H., I always go at a slow time when there is hardly a soul in there & if there are other customers I always make sure to get at the end of the line. I haven't had any problems & they always act happy to do it. I typically do 3 transactions, that's my magic number lol. I was nervous the first time I did it, but once I realized how much money I was saving I got over it pretty quick lol. Just give it a shot & see how it goes.

    • @Sofi H., I used to work at CVS as a cashier and manager. We never got mad with multiple orders, but it would upset other customers. My advice is if there is only 1 or 2 cashiers and the store is busy, tell them you have a lot of orders so if they want to call up another cashier/manager to ring you up so you dont hold up the other customers. Also you could try going in at a slow time. If your store closes at 10 maybe go in after 8. or if it opens at 7 or 8 go in right after it opens.

  • i bought $94 worth of product and only spent $32 out of pocket with $7 ECB's left over. I'm very happy with myself! :D

  • I did well this week: got $44.38 worth of items for $17.29 *and* I received an add'l $28.47 in ExtraBucks to use on a future trip.

    1) I've had better transactions, but there wasn't much I needed/wanted this week.
    2) I'm sure I could have paid less by doing multiple transactions, but I don't have the patience for that, honestly...maybe in the near future, but not now.

  • I did pretty good this week. I spent a total of $11.63 & saved a total of $65.26. This is the best shopping trip I have had since I started shopping at CVS.
