Dollar General Savings Guide
Dollar General is known for offering great prices on everyday household goods, but you can be saving even more on top of their rock-bottom prices!
Read on to find out how to get the biggest bang for your buck when shopping at Dollar General.
Dollar General Digital Coupons
First up, coupons! In addition to print-at-home manufacturer coupons that you can get from sources like Coupons.com, DG Digital Coupons allow you access to some of the best store-specific savings they have to offer, no clipping or printing needed!
Create or log in to your Dollar General account on your mobile phone or computer. Then navigate to DG Digital Coupons to add available offers to your account. At checkout, redeem these offers by simply typing in your phone number into the pin pad. You can even receive a digital receipt of your purchase via text message or email so you can watch the savings add up in your account dashboard.
How to Add Digital Coupons
There are two ways to add digital coupons to your Dollar General account from the DG Digital Coupons page:
- Browse the coupons and click the yellow plus sign (+) next to any coupon, or
- Click on the clipboard icon in the top right hand corner to view My Shopping List. Once the list is open, type any item into the Add An Item search bar, then click the yellow plus sign (+) or simply hit Enter on your keyboard.
All of your selected coupons will now be stored in your Shopping List. Access your list at any time by clicking on the clipboard icon.
As you start to shop and use your digital coupons, you will be able to access and review your coupon savings history online. Just click on the dollar sign icon in the top left hand corner of your DG Digital Coupons page to view your digital receipts as well as total dollars saved.
Dollar General Weekly Ad
Another way to save at Dollar General is to shop their Weekly Ad. These offers and sales are specific to each location, so you’ll have to type in your zip code and select your preferred store to view the ad. Once you select your store, you’ll be able to view the various digital ads available.
The DG weekly ad is especially helpful because it will call out items that also have Digital Coupons available, just in case you missed it when browsing available Digital Coupons.
I always recommend that you take a look at what’s on sale and what has coupons available before making your shopping list. If you’re not too picky on brands, this is a great way to ensure you’re taking advantage of all the savings available to you! There may also be items on super sale that you might not think to pick up, but that you’ll need in the future. Might as well get it while it’s on sale (as long as it’s not perishable)!
Dollar General Brands
Did you know that Dollar General has their own generic brands? Look for these brands when looking for the best prices:
- Clover Valley: snacks and other pantry staples
- Ever Pet: premium pet food, toys and supplies
- Sweet Smiles: sweet treats for less
- DG | baby: diapers, wipes, and more
- DG | body: soaps, lotions and other personal care items
- DG | health: cough drops, allergy relief solutions, and other OTC medications
- DG | home: paper goods, cleaning supplies, and other home goods
- DG | office: notepads, pens and everything else you need to succeed in school or at work
- DG | party: gift wrap, party decor and other festive fun
The quality of these brands is similar to national brands at a fraction of the price. I recommend shopping generic brands wherever they are available!
Sign Up for Emails/Texts
It’s no secret that companies are willing to give you great deals in return for your contact information. Their thinking is that if they can get emails and ads to you directly, you’re more likely to shop with them.
If you’re willing to put up with a little bit of spam, you could reap extra savings by signing up for the DG email newsletter or text program.
To sign up for emails, visit the Dollar General website and scroll to the bottom of the page. On the bottom left hand side, you should see a sign-up form to get promotional emails. When you get the confirmation email, be sure to add the sender address into your contacts. Otherwise the emails may accidentally go into the Spam folder!
To sign up for text promotions, text SIGNUP to 34898. You’ll receive 12 messages per month, and standard message & data rates may apply. Text STOP to the same number to quit receiving messages. Find out more about the terms and conditions right here.
I hope this guide helps you save some extra money when shopping at Dollar General!
