How to Save Money Buying Gift Cards
Who’s buying gift cards as gifts this Christmas? I’m sure many of you are! I know it seems like you can’t possibly get around paying full price for a gift card, but I assure you, you can!
Here are a few ways you can get free or discounted gift cards, or get a little something back for yourself for purchasing them!
CoinStar – Cash in $40 worth of coins at a Coinstar kiosk for a gift card to iTunes, Lowe’s, Borders, Regal Entertainment or Rixty eCertificates, and you’ll get a $10 bonus gift card! When your receipt prints, enter the promo code here to get your bonus. (exp 12/31/10)
Ebates – Earn cash back on your gift card purchases by shopping through Ebates! Log In or Sign up and look on the left-hand green menu bar. Choose “Gift Cards” from the menu to see all the stores that offer cash back for gift card purchases (there are a ton!).
Kroger – Save 40¢ off per gallon of gas for every $100 in gift cards purchased at Kroger using your Kroger Plus Card! This applies to most gift cards, including Best Buy, The Home Depot, Subway, and many more! You can mix & match gift cards to reach the $100 threshold. The fuel savings are redeemable at Kroger Fuel Centers and 400+ participating Shell locations in Dallas-Fort Worth. (exp 12/11/10!!)
My Points – Earn points to redeem for gift cards to tons of retailers like CVS, Bath & Body Works, Macy’s, and More! You can earn points just by reading emails, taking surveys, or by doing your online shopping through their links. If you’re just now joining, you may not earn enough in time for this Christmas, but you will get a good start for next year! Current My Points members, don’t forget to cash out your points!

Another thing you can consider to do to save money is bartering. On sites like http://www.BarterQuest.com you can trade for almost everything. It’s really nice and saves you a lot of money. And if you register and post something now you can win an Amazon Kindle..it will fit perfect under my Christmas tree 😉

Don’t forget buying gift cards through sites such as Plasticjungle.com and Giftcardrescue.com. I’ve used both of them for discounts as much as 17% off places I already shop.
