National Park Week Free Admission and Special Events
The 2019 National Park Week is April 20-April 28! During this time, there will be a wide range of special programs and events at national parks across the country. The celebration kicks off with free entrance to all national parks on Saturday, April 20!
This is a great wallet-friendly weekend opportunity! To make it even more fun, each day has a special theme for events. Check them out below and then click here to find an event near you.
Saturday, April 20: National Junior Ranger Day
Kids of all ages can attend events on this day to “explore, learn, and protect” natural habitats while earning their Junior Ranger badge!
Sunday, April 21: Military & Veterans Recognition Day
Learn about the places that shaped military history and culture, and explore opportunities for activity-duty military members, veterans and their families with the NPS.
Monday, April 22: Earth Day
Learn about the NPS’ role in earth sciences and how you can get involved as a steward of the parks.
Tuesday, April 23: Transportation Tuesday
Learn all about how innovation in the transportation industry has influenced the enjoyment and stewardship of national parks.
Wednesday, April 24: Wild Wednesday
Embrace the wild side of the national parks by exploring wilderness, wildlife and wild experiences you can encounter when visiting.
Thursday, April 25: Throwback Thursday
Flash back to the past and learn more about the efforts to keep the nation’s historic heritage preserved in parks and communities.
Friday, April 26: Friendship Friday
Check out the ways groups are involved in protecting parks and providing opportunities for communities to participate in national parks.
Saturday, April 27: BARK Ranger Day
This is a day for dogs to take their humans for a walk in the park and even find out how to join the furriest team of rangers.
Sunday, April 28: Park Rx Day
Explore the physical and mental health benefits of getting out into nature.
What is National Park Week?
Every April, the U.S. National Park Service joins forces with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to celebrate the country’s natural treasures.
