NEW Fresh Express Leaf Locator (Plus Giveaway!)
Ever wonder where the lettuce in the bags of salad comes from? Most bagged salads only show an expiration date and a peek through the bag at the lettuce inside, but Fresh Express is sharing what’s inside the bag to give parents peace of mind!
You can now track where your Fresh Express bagged lettuce came from with the new Fresh Express Leaf Locator Tool! The Leaf Locator tracks nearly 50 million bags of lettuce and spinach each month sold in 24,000 grocery stores nationwide.
To find out where the lettuce in your bagged salad came from, just type in the first letter and 3 digits on the front of your bag found under the “best by” date.
The locator will tell you where your lettuce came from, a short description of the process from field to store, and a picture of the location. You might even find some fun trivia about lettuce. This could be a fun way to teach kids that food doesn’t just magically appear in grocery stores!
Fresh Express has also offered to give away some FREE coupons to a few of my lucky readers!

Bagged salads are such a valuable meal tool! The launch of the “Leaf Locator” should be a defining moment for Fresh Express, as they are setting the stage for other companies to be proactive with tracking their produce. Tools like this can help teach our kids healthy eating habits in a fun way! Way to go Fresh Express! 🙂

Pretty neat idea! I love bagged salad but it always seems to go bad so quickly, it would be interesting to see how long it takes to get from harvesting to packaging to my table.

I like the idea, but in practicality, it doesn’t matter where my food comes from. I wish that I could afford to eat local (and organic) but it’s just not possible. A pretty neat concept though.

I’m guessing this idea came from the contaminated spinach fiasco a few years ago. I’m glad to know that they are being proactive about tracking produce. Nice!
