Aleshia,
The store should have adjusted to value of the coupon down to the price of the item. I recommend calling customer service when you have issues like these. Trust me, it happens to everyone!

About the coupon being more than the product: yesterday I was so excited to go to Wal-Mart and pick up some stuff.. I got Glade candles for $2.97 each and had $3 off coupons, and I got .97 trial size tides and had $1 off coupons (with no size restriction, so trial was fine). My cashier saw the Tide trial sizes and immediately asked if I was using coupons for them. She went and found a floor supervisor and both of them came over to tell me that I couldn’t use a coupon for more than the item was worth. I asked if they could write the coupon down, but they said no. They said if the manufacturer had meant for the item to be free, then they would have given out a FREE item coupon instead of ‘save $1’. The same principle applied to my candles so they said the only way i could use the coupons was to go get more expensive items.
Has anyone else experienced this? I thought all stores could just write down the value of the coupon… I was so sad!!! (and a little embarassed since a line was forming behind me while all this was going on..!)
Any advice?

Anita,
It will beep since the coupon amount is greater than the product amount.

It beeped for me and the cashier manually entered .97. HTH. 🙂

I have a question about the Ponds deal, with the $1.50 coupon will it go thru when scanned or will it beep and need to be pushed thru?
