8 New Year’s Resolution Ideas to Make 2020 Awesome
Have you made your New Year’s resolution yet?
New Year’s resolutions are so common that we’re sure you know at least a few people who are preparing to fulfill their goals for 2020. And there’s a good reason why New Year’s resolutions are so popular. A new year seems like a new start and a new opportunity to become your ideal self. But while many people set ambitious goals, we don’t think New Year’s resolutions need to be epic in order to improve your life. In fact, these eight New Year’s resolutions are pretty simple but can change your life!
Set Aside Family Time
For many families, family time just happens whenever there’s a spare moment that isn’t occupied with work, school, extracurricular activities, or chores. However, you live busy lives, so you might not be getting as much family time as you’d like. If you don’t have a firm plan, it can be easy to keep putting off spending time together. Setting aside a specific time to spend as a family can be enjoyable and help you maintain a close bond. For instance, you might decide that every Thursday night, you’ll watch a movie together or every Saturday morning you’ll play board games.
Set Aside Time for Yourself
Having a little “me” time can help keep you cool, calm, collected, and ready to deal with whatever life throws at you. But setting aside time for yourself isn’t always easy. You might resolve to set aside some time each day or each week just for you. Even if it’s only a few minutes, taking the time to care for yourself can reap massive rewards.
Get More Exercise
Exercise is linked to a whole host of benefits, so anything you can do to work a little more physical activity into your daily schedule may be beneficial. You don’t even have to join a gym to do it! You could park farther away from your intended destination, take the stairs instead of the elevator, or just take the dog for an extra walk each day to get a little more exercise.
Eat More Home-Cooked Meals
Relying on convenience foods can be so tempting, but home-cooked meals are often healthier and more affordable. You don’t have to be a gourmet chef, and with Instant Pot meals and Once a Month Meals, preparing meals doesn’t have to be terribly time-consuming.
Learn Something New
Have you always wanted to learn to dance? Have you always wished you could speak another language? Take the time to learn something new! Learning something new can give you a sense of achievement and make you feel empowered. Plus, showing your children that you’re always learning sets a great example!
Get Organized
Unless you somehow live in a parallel dimension, we’re pretty sure you have a lot of balls in the air. Keeping track of your schedule, your children’s schedules, and everything else you need to do can seem like quite the juggling act. Getting organized can make life a little bit easier, so you might want to take simple steps to make valuable changes. For instance, if you always struggle to get dressed in the morning, organizing your closet may save you valuable time (and let you sleep later). If you keep missing appointments, a good planner might help you avoid no-show fees.
Reading can be relaxing and provide a delightful escape from everyday life. Not only can reading be very enjoyable, but it can also show your children that reading is a valuable skill.
Volunteer
Volunteering may help you feel more connected to your community. Plus, the act of helping others can make you feel good about yourself. Looking for another way to enjoy more time with your family? Try to find volunteer opportunities you can do as a group!
