I love, love, love Operation Christmas Child. I would pack hundreds of shoe boxes if I could. One thing I am able to do though, is pack more shoe boxes than I could if I didn’t use coupons. Being able to give generously is just one of the many benefits of couponing.
I’m going to show you how to pack your shoe boxes to the brim with goodies, without breaking the bank!
Some of the shoe box gift ideas are hygiene items. I’m sure you’ve found by now, that there is no shortage of toothpaste or toothbrushes in a couponers house! I actually found some really cute kids toothbrush/toothpaste combo packs in the trial size section at Target for 99¢. There were $1 coupons good on any kids toothpaste (not excluding trial sizes) a while back (now expired) that I was able to use to get them free. So, I’m able to include those packs in the shoe boxes and they didn’t cost me a penny!
Other gift ideas are school supplies! If you were couponing this summer, then you remember the tons and tons of school supplies we were able to get free at CVS and several other stores. Crayons, pencils, and note pads – into the box they go, and not a penny spent so far.
So far I’ve mentioned how I’m packing my boxes with past deals. What about those who are just now starting to coupon? I have some tips for you too!
My point is, you don’t have to spend a fortune to give generously! By looking for deals and using coupons, maybe you can pack an extra shoe box and bless one more child.

I set up a facebook group called,
"Commit to one operation Christmas Child Shoe Box 2010." I made it specific to our area here in California and have been recruiting this way. Right now it is only a membership of 20 BUT God will grow it. Go to the site if you are on facebook and see how I'm targeting it. Basically I post "finds" throughout the year and send members e-mails on finds. I encourage prayer and just keep it up front for members on a monthly basis. Don't want to spam people. Come check it out. You can join if you want to just see how I'm doing it so you can do your own. I wouldn't be offended if you leave after setting up your own. God Bless the little children
Our church asked a shoe store if we could set up outside their doors over the weekend. They said yes, after people bought shoes, we asked for the empty box. we gave away candy and bumper stickers. collected 100 boxes in 4 hrs the first day!!! Good luck!
Love this post! I am in charge of an Operation Christmas Child relay center in Charleston, SC. We are trying to get the word out to as many people as we can. There are still sooo many children who have to go w/out a box. We would like to encourage all to sacrifice this year and make more boxes :-)
I'm moving to Charleston Dec. 17th and will be looking for ways to volunteer with OCC in the area throughout the year. Can you offer any suggestions?

Hi! I'm having a problem here with not enough boxes! I need 200 more. HELP where can I buy cheap boxes, or get them for free. Thanks. We're in CA and we love Operation Christmas Child. I've been packing loads for 13 years or however long it has been around. God BLess Marion
Marion,
200, wow! I'm sorry but I have no clue! Maybe ask friends and family if they have any extras they can donate.
