10 Patriotic Desserts for Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day is always very near and dear to me, as my father is a veteran of the United States Army. My grandfather, who was one of my best friends, was a veteran of the United States Navy. I thank my father every year for everything he did to help protect our freedom, and I don’t know any other way to say thank you than with sweets!

I know that may sound funny, but sweets are my specialty so it’s always the easiest for me to accompany my “thank you for your service” comments with a delicious dessert.

Many desserts labeled 4th of July and Memorial Day will pop up when lookin for a Veteran’s Day Dessert – they are all great to use as they are all patriotic desserts. Here is a list of the ones I enjoy the most!

1.) Red, White, and Blue Popcorn via Cultura Colectiva. I always love popcorn mixes for desserts because they are easy gifts. Just pop in a bag, add a tag, and it’s a gift that everyone loves!

2.) Firecracker Jello Snacks via Kid Friendly Things to Do. I love these so much. I love the way they look, I love how easy they are to make, and I love that they are so crazy easy that kids can make them.

3.) Patriotic Bark with Sugar Stars via Big Bear’s Wife. This is so colorful, so easy, and who doesn’t like chocolate?

4.) Patriotic Truffle Dessert via the Girl Who Ate Everything. Layers of strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, and pound cake. What more could someone ask for?

5.) Red, White, and Blue Wine Goblet Cupcakes via Hungry Happenings. These take cupcakes to a whole new level!

6.) Red, White, and Blue M&M Cookie Bars via Number 2 Pencil. I’ve never made a cookie bar, but I think I will now!

7.) Patriotic JELL-O Poke Cake via Inspirational Momma. This is one of my favorites. Have you ever made something like this then waited in anticipation to see the reaction of who’s eating it once they see the gorgeous inside of the cake? Priceless.

8.) Red, White, and Blue Cheesecake Salad via Sweet and Savory Meals. This is a fun (and tasty) twist on Ambrosia.

9.) Patriotic Pretzel Rods via Craft Morning. These are always a fun treat that everyone loves. Now turn them into the American Flag!

10.) Boozed Cherry Bombs via XO, Katie Rosario. For adults only, these yummy little bursts of alcohol and flavor are sure to get people begging for more!

So next time you decide to thank a veteran, you too can do it with a special sweet. Happy Veteran’s Day to all the veterans and active duty military members out there!
