Yeah, I tried to use the coupon as well and was denied. But, I didn't really try; she just said I couldn't use it.
I work for Walgreens I think its sad the treatment you guys are getting there. Im sorry to hear that. I usually adjust it to .99 cents. The girl at another store I went to didnt know how to do it so yeah they can be a pain.
I'm sorry you all are having a hard time at your Walgreen's.Mine in Ohio is great! I got to know each cashier and gave them tips such as the website for couponing101 and they are very friendly.The manager is great also..They always tell to come to the cosmetic counter and give me coupons out of a box of them they have if I don't have a coupon for something..
You have to buy other things with it in order to use to $1 coupons. They most definitely will not price up the item or reduce the coupon.
Also, the cashiers get 5 cents for each item they sell.
When I tried this at a walgreens the clerk didn't know how to reduce the coupon and when they called the manager over he said it was "illegal" and refused to do it. They kept saying they couldn't make the product a penny more just to use the coupon and when I told him to reduce the coupon he kept refusing.
Well, I tried to grab the great bargains at Walgreens and was denied. The floss and toothbrush wouldn't work, the cashier told me that since the price was less than the coupon, he couldn't acepted it. I asked him to change the value of the coupon to $.99 and he said he couldn't do that. I also tried to purchase a few items that were in the May Walgreens coupon book and use a MC coupons and once again I was denied. The cashier told me that both coupons were MC and therefore the transaction wouldn't work. Instead of agruing with him, I gave up and walked out of the store with nothing! I'm done with Walgreens... they're too much of pain!
@Trying to save some $$$,
You can use one Walgreens coupon and one manufacturer's coupon for each item. You can't have more manufacturer's coupons than you have items.
Let me add, I understand when doubling or tripling that they can and should be able to give only the cost of the item (if this were a 50 cent coupon, for example) but not on a simple straightforward redemption.
I thought stores were not permitted to devalue a coupon. When they submit the coupon to the company, they will get the full value and so they must give the full value to the customer.
@Eremita, Yes, the store does get the full value of the coupon back regardless, but most stores will not permit giving cash back so they are forced to adjust the value of the coupon.
