I was wondering if you could answer a question for me? I went to Walmart today to use my gain coupons and they told me that because the amount was under a dollar they could could not do the transaction. After bickering back and forth with them they rang it up and it came up item not found. So they still would not do the transaction. What is Walmart's couponing policy on items that are less than what the coupons are for? Thanks Sheri
@sheri, Walmart does not have a policy for this in their official coupon policy. However, it is perfectly acceptable for them to adjust the coupon down - I don't know why stores don't understand this. I say - try again, maybe at a different store. If you aren't afraid to wait, hang on to your coupons until they go on sale for exactly $1 at another store, so you don't have to mess with the coupon value issue.
@sheri,
I've had the same problem! I had a cashier tell me since I was buying the smaller size, I couldn't use the $1.00 off coupon. I explained that there were no size restrictions on the coupon so I could use it and asked her to change the coupon amount to .97 cents. She would not and her manager told her not to do it. I decided not to get the dish soap. On my way out, I saw a different manager and asked him about the coupon. He said yes, we can take that, the cashier just has to mark the coupon down to .97 cents. He then told my cashier and the other manager that and I was about to get my dish soap. I've looked at Wal-Mart's coupon policy and it does not say ANYTHING about a coupon value being more than the item and what they should do. It really just depends on your cashier and whatever manager is on duty! I've gone other times and they push the coupon through and don't care at all about the 3 cent overage. Good luck!
I have used about 4 of these coupons now at my walmart at different times and never had a problem!
