  1. I’ve had trouble using coupons at Walmart. Being so new to using coupons I went shopping at Walmart to “test out” a small trip of 4-5 items and the register would not recognize or accept my manufacturer coupons. The cashier and another cashier (who walked over) saw that my coupons were good and still would not accept them so I told the girl to zero everything out and I went to Kroger (DFW area) where they did work. I’m so happy I didn’t do a large shopping trip. I don’t know if this happens to every one at walmart but it happens to me! I have stopped shopping there almost completely and mainly because although they can and will compete with prices they can no longer compete with costumer service. This has been my experience.

    • @Rebecca, that is exactly why I prefer Publix hands-down. I get the best service there that I’ve ever gotten anywhere. I hate Walmart…and I actually don’t care so much for Kroger, but I’d shop at Kroger before Walmart any day. Savings are not always worth the lack of customer service. Luckily, I usually ending up saving more at Publix anyway. Walmart’s regular prices may be lower, but they don’t have the best sales. Yay for BOGO and 10/$10!

      • @Donna, I really wish we had a Publix here in Texas! We are from FL and I worked at Publix for 6 years (over 10 yrs ago) and I just recently had a friend tell me she hears publix is the place for couponing. We hate walmart as well and although Kroger isn’t as nice as Publix I have found it to meet our needs for now. And I agree, “Yay for BOGO and 10/$10!!”

        • @Rebecca, my husband works Publix too. I had never even considered shopping there until meeting him. I always assumed it was more expensive b/c it was so much nicer than the other stores. I was wrong. We did stop shopping there for a time (when my husband left that job for a while) and we thought we could do better at Kroger. But since I have started couponing, I have found Publix to be where I get the most savings….which is probably helped by the fact that I can always find what I’m looking for and what is advertised on sale. I’ve had some issues w/ that at Kroger.
